Kent Police Open Day

Dear Club Members,

Busy Bank Holiday Weekend for Walderslade club members

It was a busy bank holiday weekend for two Walderslade Judo Club members.

Seven-year old Erin Baisley travelled all the way to Holland to compete in the Westland Judo Championships, an international event which saw over 550 junior judo players compete for medals.  Erin was the only Walderslade member to take part this year and he fought really well winning 3 of his 4 fights and narrowly losing in the final to take an excellent silver medal and this large junior event.  A huge well done to Erin for such a great achievement in such an event so far from home.

Parkwood Judo Competition

Dear Club members,

PARKWOOD JUDO CLUB Invitational Reward Competition (Up to 9thMon)

We have been invited to take part in the Parkwood Judo Club mini-judo championship Sunday 1 July.  This will be a great opportunity for our Red, Yellow and Orange Belts to get some extra experience at a local, friendly championship.  Entry is limited to 50 and on a first come-first served basis, so make sure you get your entry forms sent off before the closing date of Friday 15 June.

Do you want to get fit and have fun? Read on.

Did you know.......?

Every Wednesday from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at the Greenacre School, Walderslade Judo Club runs a fun fitness session which the British Judo Association calls JudoFit.  It uses a mix of judo related exercises and movement (but without any actual throwing or combat) and circuit training to give an excellent all-round body workout.  And best of all, its FREE !!

Club championship a great success

Dear club members,

What a really fantastic day Saturday’s invitation tournament turned out to be.  There were around 100 entries between the two events (Red Belts and Yellow Belts) and across both groups we had some excellent results and saw some fantastic judo.

Club members excel at the weekend tournaments

On Saturday two young club members travelled to Tonbridge to take part in the Bushido Judo Club Easter Championships and both Erith Baisley and Annalise Carew came away with Gold medals after flying through their pools with big throws and ippons throughout.  Two excellent results for two of the clubs youngest players so well done to both of them.

Great results at Kent Orange Belt and under competition

Six Waldersalde judoka attended the Kent Red, Yellow & Orange Belt Rumble at Herne Bay Judo Club on Sunday 12th February, and all of them came away with either a gold or silver medal after some excellent performances.

Commonwealth Judo success for Walderslade judoka & Little Kano night this Friday

Congratulations to Walderslade Coaches Ranj Atwal and Eddie Orgee who both competed in the Grand Masters category of the 2012 Commonwealth Judo Championships in Cardiff on Monday.  The event saw strong contingents from all of the home nations in attendance along with large delegations from Canada, Australia and South Africa and many other Commonwealth countries.

Ranj competed in the M4 Over 100kg event and took a well-earned Silver medal, whilst Eddie competed in the M5 U66kg event and gained a Bronze in a tough field.
